Title: Love - What is it good for?

by: Robert Gregory, M.L.C.

There is more hunger for love and appreciation in this world than for bread. ~ Mother Teresa
Love is the history of a woman's life; it is an episode in man's. ~ Germaine De Stael
The loving are the daring. ~ Bayard Taylor
Loneliness and the feeling of being unwanted is the most terrible. ~ Mother Teresa
The best and most beautiful things in this world cannot be seen or even heard, but must be felt with the heart. ~Helen Keller

Love, it is a feeling an emotion that we have all have felt at one time in our lives.  Yes, it could have been for a significant other or simply for a delish piece of our favorite desert!  I love my wife, I love the beach, I love chili dogs, I love that the Giants won and the Patriots are 18-1!  I love my friends, and I love coaching others and helping them to achieve their goals.

Love, brings out the candy and flowers, the cards and the special night or weekend trip and let us not forget the diamonds!   Some will get married on Valentines Day; others will be hoping for the hook-up, yes just the physical part of the relationship but that is only a part of a loving relationship.

Love, how are you, loving others?  Unfortunately in today’s world love is often connected with sex.  If you say you love someone or show love one might just think there is an ulterior motive!  I object, I say we can love without sex being the motivator.  I choose to love as God has called us to love, by serving others.  I understand that some may not believe in God or may have a different theology or follow another religious belief, however; I think we can and we need to and have to as humankind come together and agree to love one another.

How, if you look at the quotes above about love you will see that we can care for others who are in need, by not just giving them bread but by giving of ourselves through friendship.  Commitment, say what you mean and mean what you say.  Dare to be different, break the barriers that separate humankind, step out and make a difference.  Friendship, we cannot say enough about reaching out to those in need, the lonely, hungry and sick and let them know that someone cares.  Finally, let your love be felt by being kind, joyful, peace loving, patient, filled with goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.

Love, what is it good for?  It makes this world a better place, so reach out and show someone the love!

END.
