About Coaching:
Coaching is in it's infancy -
The field of coaching is in its youth and moving rapidly towards world
renown. Considering just about everyone can benefit from having their own coach,
the number of new coaches needed over the next few years will greatly multiply.
Federal estimates say that the number of coaches in part-time and full-time
practice worldwide has now reach 6-figures, with an average annual income
ranging from $35,000 to $100,000 and up. Certain specialty coaches earn
considerably more. Your financial success depends on your ability to take
consistent action and your willingness to promote yourself.
What the coach does -
What does a Coach do? The Life Coach assists people determine a true
vision of their goals and then help them develop a suitable strategy to get
closer to reaching those goals. Coaches are trained to listen, to observe and to
customize their approach to individual client needs. They seek to elicit
solutions and strategies from the client; they believe the client is naturally
creative and resourceful. The coach's job is to provide support to enhance the
skills, resources, and creativity that the client already has.
The coaching
time-line -
Coaches generally
work with clients within a proprietary 3 month coaching structure, for one hour
per week in person, on the telephone or via email. In this way the
work is targeted and focused to the client's need, plus the coach is able to
make sure the client is really develop new skills and habits.
Coaching is all about
having someone believe in you and encourage you, about getting valuable
feedback, about seeing things from new perspectives and setting your sights on
new horizons. Furthermore, you never have to worry that here are not enough
clients to go around. There are easy and profitable ways of finding clients.
What coaching is not -
Life
coaching is not counselling and it's not therapy of any kind. In most instances,
coaches do not explore past issues. While such "issues" may emerge in a coaching
session, a coach is more typically concerned with helping clients to achieve
results in the present and the future. A coach does, however, help a client to
identify blocks or obstacles by asking good questions and therefore gaining the
desired results. This may be one way of acknowledging current realities.
Anyone can hire a coach -
Individuals who engage in a coaching relationship can expect to
experience fresh perspectives on personal challenges and opportunities, enhanced
thinking and decision making skills, enhanced interpersonal effectiveness, and
increased confidence in carrying out their chosen work and life roles.
